Caffé americano, literally American coffee, is a type of coffee drink prepared by diluting an espresso with hot water, giving it a similar strength to, but different flavor from, traditionally brewed coffee.
Its strength varies with the number of shots of espresso and the amount of water added.
ABOUT ME
That’s how I like to think of myself. Fully Italian but with a little added American passion at heart.
My name’s Tommaso and I’m a junior at the American School of Dubai.

I was born in Milan, Italy but I grew up in the US and Dubai. As an expat kid in the US, I always felt American deep down.
Heck, at one point, I even wanted to be President!
I always felt a special connection to the States and to American culture. Surrounded by it during my childhood, I feel like that in some ways I’ve been molded by both American and Italian values.
And so after I left America to live in Dubai, I took that with me. When introducing myself to my new friends, I sometimes said I was half-American, even though I was neither born nor have American family! As cliché as this sounds, that’s the beautiful thing about America.
No matter where you're from and no matter where you go, America stays with you. That’s the effect the United States has on everyone that goes through it, and I am no exception.
This blog serves as a representation of America: its politics, culture, history, and role in the world. And hopefully, it also serves as a representation of a unique perspective.
An Italian teen living in Dubai looking at America from the outside. So come around every weekend to hear my thoughts!
